Manchester United Promotes Danish Forward Chido Obi-Martin to First Team as Third Striker
Manchester United has added 16-year-old Danish forward Chido Obi-Martin to their first team as the third-choice striker, following Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund. This strategic move was confirmed by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his X account on Wednesday.
Obi-Martin is expected to gain valuable playing time during the current Premier League campaign. The decision to promote him comes as United’s main strikers have struggled to find form, with only one goal from Zirkzee in six Premier League matches.
Obi-Martin first grabbed headlines in November 2023 when he scored an incredible 10 goals for Arsenal’s U16s in a 14-3 victory over Liverpool. Last season, the Denmark U17 international netted 32 goals in 24 appearances at the youth level for Arsenal, while also training with the first team.
Manchester United’s decision to include Obi-Martin adds depth to their attacking lineup and presents an opportunity for the young talent to showcase his skills on a bigger stage.
