ANTP Confirms Veteran Actor Lere Paimo Is Alive

The Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) has officially debunked the widespread rumours claiming that legendary Yoruba actor and cultural icon, Olalere Osunpaimo, has passed away.

In a statement released on Saturday and signed by the organisation’s National Public Relations Officer, Adejonwo Oluwafemi, ANTP clarified that the veteran actor—popularly known as Baba Eda Onile Ola—is alive, stable, and in good health.

The association urged the public to ignore false reports circulating across social media, describing them as misleading and capable of causing unnecessary anxiety among fans and the Nigerian entertainment community.

According to ANTP, members of the association recently checked on the respected thespian and confirmed that he remains strong and well.

The group also advised media outlets and social media users to verify sensitive information before sharing, especially concerning public figures who hold significant cultural value.

Lere Paimo, a revered figure in Yoruba theatre and film, has contributed immensely to Nigeria’s cultural heritage for decades, earning respect as one of the living pillars of traditional performance art.
